It’s a lot harder to build a brand with mass media now. I came from the traditional advertising world as well, and the reason I got out of it in the mid-90s is because I wanted to stop annoying people.
Traditional agency culture has become so calcified and hermetically sealed, they are far more interested in telling jokes and punchlines than actually engaging people in a meaningful way.
